Expeditionary Repair and Availability
Planned and executed a ship repair availability in a foreign port as proof of a capability the Navy had not run that way before, then served as the on-site technical authority until every task closed.
Problem
A ship that needs work while it is far from its home port has none of the usual infrastructure around it, and no established process for getting the right people and parts to the right pier at the right time.
Outcome
The availability was executed in a foreign port as proof of capability for future operations, with the pre-deployment coordination done so that personnel, equipment and material arrived in-theater on time.

Repairing a ship far from its home port means the support structure that normally exists has to be built first. Before anyone deployed, I worked through the objectives with engineering teams, supply chain and contract specialists so that the people, equipment and material would land in-theater on time and in the right order — the failure mode here is not a hard technical problem, it is a part that is three weeks behind the team that needs it. On site I was the local technical authority and the single liaison between the ship, pier-side services and the Navy organizations involved. Afterwards I helped write the lessons learned and after-action reporting, and the improvements we found went into the next cycle rather than into a file. The work is closely related to SPY Radar Readiness Assessments, which is the same customer relationship on a shorter timescale.
